“Nightmare on Elm Street House” to come down

The Nightmare on Elm Street house, which supposedly inspired the films while Wes Craven taught at Clarkson University in the 1960s, is local lore in my college town. It was also the closest I ever lived to an Elm Street, which is weird because somewhere I heard that every town has one of those.

Today the house has a whole new kind of horror. It’s in such a state of disrepair that it’s been condemned and is getting demolished.

While the town of Potsdam and local citizens are trying to preserve the house as a historic landmark Wes Craven denies that there was ever a link between it and his movies.
