According to Joseph Perla, who wrote that Facebook is a Ponzi Scheme:
Have you ever bought a Facebook ad? I have. I have talked to many, many people who have. We have spent hundreds, many have spent thousands or even more, experimenting with Facebook ads. They are worthless. Nobody ever looks at them, and nobody ever clicks on them.
The argument is that companies advertise on Facebook, spend hundreds of dollars, wonder why their ads don’t work, spend more money to experiment, and eventually give up. That’s not much concern to Facebook, because the audience continually grows along with more businesses interested in trying advertising–and the cycle continues.
My Facebook pages get littered with Christian dating site ads lately, but I did buy a Booq laptop bag through one. And sometimes music venues in my area advertise on it. The Booq one is the only one I clicked and bought a product through.
