Inside Deep Throat

Worship The Glitch on documentaries about pornography in the 1970s:

Inside Deep Throat, on the other hand, tells a story that is much bigger than the film itself. It’s a story with many chapters. The sad tale of Harry Reems, the honest assessment of director Gerad Damiano, the mafia angle, the censorship, the trials, the sexual and pornographic revolution the pic unleashed. The breadth of information is impressive and the filmmakers effectively connect all of it to the lives of even those who weren’t around to experience all the hoopla. Annie Sprinkle offers commentary here, too, as do Gore Vidal, John Waters and Norman Mailer. Highly recommended.

Both films are available via Netflix streaming.

Sounds like quite a story. ADDED.

It’s funny to me how documentaries about porn always seem to have commentary by people like Gore Vidal. It’s like the filmmakers try to legitimize the topic. Or people like Vidal actually know a lot about pornography than they’d appear to let on from the surface.

Although, if you Wikipedia the guy it appears he’s the exact kind of person you’d want in your porn documentary.
