When I used Twitter I’d send messages, but most people tweet.
When I update this site it’s through writing, but a lot of people still blog.
There’s something to be said about the power of the brand as verb, which is probably why all these hot young startups adopt these cutesy terms and try to get them in the vernacular. You give Google free marketing when you tell people to Google it. The same with Twitter when you tweet something.
Nobody really Bings anything, but you could Yahoo up some tail.
Yet, if your brand as a verb contains so much power then how come the juggernaut doesn’t really own any verbs? You don’t tweet on Facebook, you update your status – which is exactly what it sounds like.
Maybe the end is near for these cute verbs and the brands they represent.
