After a month of using Gmail’s IMAP with Mail.app, I’ve realized it isn’t nearly as bad as I thought it was at first.
The secret is to use the instructions detailed here.
Another secret is to create Smart Folders instead of IMAP Folders/Gmail labels. That part is still a little screwy.

I wish they would make a voice that you can actually make sing.

I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t even a little interested in Amazon’s Kindle.
The iPod comparisons are expected, but the differences between how we consume music and books may break the Kindle. For instance, an album usually lasts for about 40 minutes. A 200 page book usually takes something like 3-5 hours for me [...]

Bartek, the developer of iGTD, is now offering a sneak peak of iGTD version 2.
iGTD 2 brings a new Leopard-look overhaul, smart folders, a tabbed interface, the ability to mark projects as completed, and more.
iGTD is my GTD app of choice, but under Leopard it is the buggiest software I’ve ever used. I hope iGTD [...]

Gene Simmons is getting some flack because of his comments about how record labels should have sued college students immediately after they saw P2P music-sharing becoming a problem.
But I do agree with him on one thing that’s bothered me about new recorded music business models. The idea of using music as a vehicle to sell [...]

The unsung feature of Leopard is definitely Spaces.
Spaces is a feature that I thought I’d rarely use, but I find that I use it ALL THE TIME now. I have 9 Spaces enabled – it just seems like that’s the right thing to do when you can use your number pad as your shortcuts.
I’ve always [...]

Saul Williams and Trent Reznor know what they’re doing.
You can get Saul Williams’ new album for free at 192 kbps MP3 or you can pay $5 to have 2 other options: 320kbps MP3 or FLAC.
And the FLAC download comes with a .cue sheet to aid CD burning if you need it. If you’re still skeptical [...]

With Spotlight re-indexing and Time Machine doing its initial backup, it’s premature to completely weigh in on Leopard. But there is one thing that I love about it so far.
The Chirping is Gone!
PowerMac G5s have had this nasty bug. From time to time the machine would chirp. Typically this would happen during weird Flash instances, [...]

It’s because I’m doing the Leopard upgrade.
User folder – backed up.
iTunes Library – backed up.
Permissions – Not repaired…I guess I should do that.
Going for the straight upgrade. It’s too much hassle to reinstall everything, and others have said the Clean Install recommendations are just voodoo.
